Merge hail from Paris in France who released there first full length album Elysion in 2014 and have now released their sophomore album Ineffable. Merge have recently come off tour with Don Bronco and have proved that they can not only make an excellent track in the studio they can also get the place going live.

Their debut album Elysion showed us that Merge was a band with a lot of promise and talent but i felt that they didn’t know where to put themselves genre-wise.  After just a few songs you can notice Ineffable is a top notch album that deserves more praise and exposure that it gets.

The Exit kicks off the album which sets the tone for the album perfectly , the track is a perfect mix of mellow and heavy sounds. The particular highlight is Max Rodriguez’s vocals during the end of the track around 3 minutes in.

The Password is the second track on the album Ineffable , This track has a great mix of heavy and softer sounds and keeps your ears “on their toes” with the change of pace throughout. The next track is Soaring , this song is by far the most polished track on the Album , you get a bring me the horizon feel to the end of the song.

I cannot give this song enough praise just give it a listen below , we promise you won’t be disappointed.

Once we are past Soaring we are on to the title track of the album Ineffable , Ineffable slows things down from the previous tracks adding more electronics and mellow lyrics, The same can be said for the next track Mirage which sounds beautiful and would sit happily next to any mainstream rock song on the radio today.

Bloodstream comes up next and speeds things up a little after the little chill-out Ineffable and Mirage provided. Bloodstream incorporates electronics well with rock sounds. Helen returns to the softer sounds from before Bloodstream , but packs more munch than Ineffable and Mirage , You can feel the emotion in this track with some great vocals from Max.

Next up is the cover of TWENTY ONE PILOTS’ Heathens , which is executed well , it feels a little darker than the original and more melodic.

Recovery starts with a nice drum into that moves onto some heavier riffs and is overall a nice addition to the album , but does nothing really to stand out. Face it now in our opinion is the second best track on the sophomore album. Merge try something different with this song and we feel it pays off especially in the chorus as its very catchy and will be in your head rattling around for days.

The final track is In Details III, which is a full instrumental track , some people may say this is a bit of a cop-out for a final track but it finishes things off well and is a nice pace change to end the album.
