As soon as i heard the debut single from Misery Loves Company i was instantly took back 10 years , but not in a bad way. Love Notes and Highways reminds me of an album that is musically influenced by a post Demons Get Scared.

The first track off Love Notes and Highways is a harmonic intro track called “Save Me From Myself” its a nice intro that moves well into the first song All Used Up , The song starts off quick with some distorted vocals and guitar riffs , the fast pace verses work well giving that old-school post hardcore/emo vibe.

Dead and Buried is the first song of the album that the band promoted , you can see the video for Dead and Buried below , The song is great even though its shorter than we would like. Dead and Buried has a great catchy chorus which is why the song was perfect to promote the EP around 1:20 in there is a change of pace that works well with the softer vocals and slower riffs. Dead and Buried is currently our song of the week , so we are fairly bias about liking this one.

Goodbye Forever is the next song up. This song i feel is the weakest on the album , The song feels a little rushed and a bit all over the place in parts , it may grow on me but it does affect the overall experience of the EP. I just feel it could work a little better in places.

After Goodbye Forever we have To Whom It May Concern which puts the EP back on track the heavier chorus works really well on this one and i am torn if this is my favorite track on the album , its definatly a toss up between this one and Dead and Buried. Its another fast paced song which seems the trend the EP is going for , hit you in the face and make you remember!

Last up is Beautiful Tragedy , the song starts off slower than  To Whom It May Concern  but gets the speed back on the chorus its a softer feeling song than its predecessor and rounds the EP up nicely.

Overall Love Notes and Highways is a great EP that makes us want a LP asap. Some may say that the sound is not modern enough for today’s standards and its been done before , But we feel the complete opposite and its great to here the genre re-born Misery Loves Company do add more modern vibes in the songs also. Revival Recordings seem to be getting some great talent on their books lately with Artwork and Misery Loves Company , I just hope this album gets the support it deserves so their is a lot more to come from Misery Loves Company!
