We recently caught up with Post-Emo rockers Misery Loves Company off the back of the release of their EP Love Notes and Highways. You can check out our Love Notes and Highways review here
Check out our interview below:
Can you give us a quick history of the band and how you got here.
Me (Jimmy) and Mike started the band after switching up our old bands sound and name. We decided we wanted to sound more like the bands we grew up on and less like the ones that are around today.
We have noticed your sound is quite old school (we like it btw) what genre would you put the band in?
Post emo or punk rock is just fine.
Any bands who you have taken infulence off?
Bands like My Chemical Romance, The Used, From First To Last, Senses Fail, Taking Back Sunday.
Which song means the most to you off Love Notes and Highways?
Probably All Used Up. The song has a lot of positive memories of me finally getting over someone in my life and starting a new chapter.
Any reason for the band name Misery Loves Company?
Most of our lyric content is about mental health issues such as anxiety or depression. We thought it would only be right to make a metaphorical band name hinting at that even if our fan base is miserable they can come be miserable with us haha.
What are the biggest obstacles you have faced getting your music out ?
Touring and grinding out playing in front of no one for a year straight was what initially launched the bands start. It wasn’t pretty but it got us where we are now.
Any plans to come over here ? (UK)
We would absolutely love to. Just need the demand from the venues over there. Suggest everyone you know over there to call into there local radio stations and to request us so we can eventually actually come over there and party!
Whats next for MLC ?
Excessive touring for the rest of the year supporting our Debut EP “Love Notes and Highways” !
